Homicide: The Movie (2000): Ed Begley, Jr., made an uncredited appearance as Dr. This is a direct reference to Detective John Munch, specifically his appearances in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Luther (2010 – ): In the fifth episode of the first series, Luther says to his young officer, “Contact Detective Munch in New York he works in the Special Victims Unit”. John Munch also appeared in 119 episodes, including “Forgive Us Our Trespasses”, “The Why Chromosome”, “Lines of Fire”, “Identity Crisis”, and “Self Defense”.
